Red or blue antifreeze in Cummins Diesel

I need to find out if I have red or blue antifreeze in my engine. The Cummins dealer said not to mix the two. They said that most mh's have red but some have blue. When I look in my fill tank it basically looks clear. The mh is a 2012 with a 450 hp diesel ISL. Does anyone else with a similar motor know what color antifreeze they have. I know I can crawl underneath and find a bleed somewhere but I was trying not to do that...Thanks!

)I have got about 10,000 miles on blue coolant (Fleetgard non-OAT) and it is still blue.

Color has little to do with it, but Cummins probably has no idea because they shipped the engine to the chassis manufacturer without coolant. The chassis manufacturer then installs the engine, rad, hoses, overflow tank, etc. and then adds the coolant.

  • Moisheh is right. I always thought red coolant was the CAT super coolant that didn't need SCA's. My new Freightliner chassis came with red coolant, but Freightliner says they can color ethlene glycol any color and that is what it is. When I checked the SCA's they were just about right. So, bottom line, the only way to be sure what is in your cooling system is to ask the chassis manufacturer.

  • Being a 2012 model, call your chassis maker with your VIN. They can look it up.
  • The color means nothing. There should be a label somewhere near the rad telling you which coolant was installed.

  • Your CHASSIS maker, not engine maker or coach maker specs and installs the coolant.
  • Spartan??? Freightliner??? or??? You really need to call the builder and see what they put in there.
  • Call the Mfg of the coach and ask them what they put in the cooling system.
