- dezolenExplorerTime will tell how well the residential fridges hold out as they have only started using them in the last few years. Hope you are right.
Ps still can't believe the poor quality that still is the standard no matter how much one spends on an RV whether a tent trailer or half mil motorhome.
Manufacturers just don't seem to care as long as we keep buying them. - kab449ExplorerGot a residential refrigerator in this rig. Nothing but problems with the propane models even though they have had 50 years to get it right.
- old_guyExplorerI spent 30 years on the fire dept here in my town and fought ma RV fires. some were frig fault fires and some were not. One fire I remember is a guy drove through town with a brand new RV on his maiden trip and it only made it about 30 miles before the frig caused a fire and it burned to the ground. such a shame.

I believe the average response time for fire services is about 6 minutes. At least it was when I was an EMT, years ago.
By that time most RV are totally engulfed in flames. They burn fast, fast, fast!
Yep, the photo in the article in the link the OP provided was made by first responders. The one I pasted above was from a passer-by clearly soon after it started. - wkswensonExplorerThat fire picture looks like the hot spot is the fridge vent....

tkcas01, thanks for the better picture. Based on the amount of flames above the refer area and the vent gone... x2 on refer fire.
Heck, I have a Allegro Bay DP sitting in my junk yard with a driver's door...:S :o
Well, based on that last photo I posted, that model does have the water heater in that same area where the fire seemed to start. A furnace is there too, but doubt they had their furnace going in FL today. - BillMFlExplorer

Better change those dangerous engines to the residential front engine ie gas engine just to be safe (Sorry, could not resist)
Haha, well we know from this forum that DPs do everything better! The TV news video showed it totally involved. Flames front to rear by the time the fire trucks got there. Station 9 where my son used to work is only a few blocks away. It sure must have gone up quick. My gasser would never match that beauty. All joking aside, I'm glad the people and their dogs got out ok. - IvylogExplorer IIItkcas01, thanks for the better picture.
