RV Sani-Con Bayonet Fitting

We've had a Sani-Con "Twist-On" for many years. The "bayonet" fitting which attaches to the FloJet pump finally cracked. where it joins the pump. I got a new bayonet piece from Thetford (thru Good Sam because Thetford C.S. said it would be cheaper) and it came with a wide rubber band...I was confused. Thetford C.S. now says it goes under the large hose clamp that is supposed to help hold the pump and bayonet together.

Funny part is the hose clamp on mine was not even on the old bayonet fitting; maybe it used to be but not lately. Perhaps that is the reason for the rubber band. I am having trouble getting the pump back into the bayonet fitting - super tight. So far have tried liquid soap and silicon wax (like I use on waste tank controls). Perhaps my 28-year-old neighbor will have more luck than this 76-year-old fogey.

  • I tried to get that rubber band to work and finally gave up and used RTV to seal the bayonet fitting to the main body.

Hose clamp is used on replacement fittings. they attach at the facgtory via a different method or so I suspect (Actually know having Tetford hoses)
