I would stay away from DirectTV at all costs. I did exactly the OP is asking 5 years back when my previous rig had a roof top dish. Used to take the bedroom receiver and put it in the RV. It seemed somehow DTV knew I was using the receiver all around the Northeast and one day I got a prompt on screen to call customer service. From that time to when I cancelled their terrible service every few days I would get the same prompt to call in. Now that was five years ago so I can't say things haven't changed, especially with folks cutting the cord/dish and going Wi-Fi stations like Amazon, Hula etc. I believe Dish also lets you use a vacation or not in use mode if you store your rig part of the year with a small monthly fee vs. the full subscription amount which Direct didn't offer when I had their "did I say" terrible service.
5 years is a long time to hold a grudge. DirecTV CANNOT know where a receiver is unless it is also plugged into a phone line. If your home receivers were plugged into a phone line and your RV receiver was not (obviously) what DirecTV could know is where the receiver IS NOT. If it is not where it belonged they would send a message to contact DirecTV.
While you warn folks to stay away (I get it, you are mad) it may not be based on any sort of reality in today's business.
