Short corded small appliance dilemma

Defeating a GFCI violates my number one rule in life; Don't do anything so stupid that it gets my family or myself killed.

Keep in mind the reason they tell you not to use an extension cord is only because the unwitting would use a tiny lamp cord to power a high power device and burn it up.
If you use your brain you'll be OK.

Well you are right of course.. Except I'm in my mid 60's this means I grew up BEFORE GFCI's were Code. in fact in my house (when I had one) there were NO GFCI's at all. I did install 2 in the Bathroom never did do the Kitchen. Wife tested one of 'em (It worked, She lived).


And I've read recently of RVers "Bypassing" the GFCI..

So that 0.1% is enough to worry the Legal Eagles at Appliances R us. don't you know (What is 0.1% of the population of the US anyway).

Today we have far too many "rules" and "warnings" to protect us from basic stupidity.. So many that many folks simply ignore them.

ON Facebook just this week is a sign "Road ends in water" The sign post.. IS DRIVEN into the land under the water..

Story about 2 preachers holding a sign "The end is near turn ye back"
Driver speeds by calling them religious nuts...... SPLASH...
One preacher to the other "Think we should change the sign to "The bridge is out"?.

Mind the warnings.. But try to figure out why. As I said a cord in water.. You are trusting your life to a device that CAN FAIL.. use the short (six or 8 Inch) Cord and you are not doing that.

I would either add an outlet or build my own high current extension cord to the exact length I need.

If you don't want to take it apart and install a longer one size heavier cord, then go ahead and use a size larger ext. cord or a #14awg with 15amps capability cord, should be able to handle any of your appliances up to 1700 watts.

Our Meridian is the same way - Couldn't believe they did that when I first tried to grind coffee. I see for 2016 they moved the outlets down to that run of little drawers.

The only think that I had that won't reach is the coffee grinder.
