Six new Michelins MS2

Today I bought the extra 2 tires to complete the new set all around. The spare had never been rotated so I saved one of the 2008 tires and the guys put it on the wheel. I probably won't rotate it with the 2014 tires either.
Can't believe how good it feels to have all new tires, four of them courtesy of a company you CAN depend on. In 2010 the two other tires were only 2 years old, now at 6 I felt it was good to have the rubber all the same age. (except for the spare.)
They had a bit of trouble getting the spare off the mounting plate. In fact the plate came a bit loose so I'll have to do a repair before we remount.
The Discount Tire store here in Arvada put in all metal stems too.
The Firestone spare looked spanking new but of course at 12 years old, it probably was not reliable enough even for a spare.
Happy Camper.

Yep, 64th next to the DQ. They were great--our original purchase in Arizona was from a Discount Tire. I got the Michelins because they were recommended here at the time. Seems like even with the recall, it was a good choice!

The one on 64th next to DQ? That's where we got our RV tires, too, but we went with the G947 RSS Armor Max...I didn't ask for metal stems - I should have! Would like to put a TPMS on, but know that metals stems are needed.

Hadn't heard about the recall...need to go look at the tires on our other vehicles.

Did you say you still have the old tires? Then it seems you could take them in for replacements. If the tire store kept them, you might be able to get them to order the replacements too.

That is shocking that the tire dealer didn't check and see that the tires were recalled. Costco was well aware of the recall, sent me a letter and didn't need to see a receipt. I waited months to actually get the new MS2's - got 2 and a half summers on the recalled ones.

Hopefully the MS2 will last longer than the usual 6 years. I'm using tire covers, not using tire polish, and plan to exercise those tires as often as I can.

We purchased a 2012 Freedom Elite from Camping world March of this year. We discovered after we got home that the back 4 tires were cracked, and a dealer recommended getting them replaced.
The 2 on front were replaced already. We had them replaced with Firestones. We just found out about the recall, and those tires are on the list for recall. Does anyone know if we can get any reimbursement? We still have the tires.

XPS ribs are "probably OK" to use on your rig.

It depends upon if you cared for a more aggressive tread than that of the XPS Rib, and on whether or not Michelin uses the same sidewall ply material (not talking about the steel in the Rib sidewall plies) in the Rib that was used in the original M&S tire.

IMHO something was "wrong" with what Michelin was using in the sidewalls of the original M&S tire such that premature sidewall cracking was occuring in this tire. The new LTX M&S2 tire is using a different sidewall material than what was used in the original design and I hope that the existing XPS Rib is not using this older technology sidewall material ... irrespective of the steel in the Rib sidewalls.

In May, due to the Michelin recall, Discount Tire replaced all 7 of ours with XPS Ribs. Since MS2's were in short supply, Michelin said ok to go with the Ribs on our 2010 Itasca Cambria. They seem to run a little quieter but I wonder if I'd been better off with the MS's since they are a low rolling resistance tire.

Also, Thanks for this site keeping me updated on this stuff. Went to America's tire in Long Beach Town Center expecting to order the tires, 6-8 weeks out, but they had 6 of them on hand not promised to anyone! There's a shortage but apparently the dealers do get them occasionally.

Thank you OP and those who mentioned Michelin tire recall on this forum . I got 6 tires replaced today free of charge at America tire in Whittier, CA. My old tires are 4 years old. New tires have 70,000 miles guarantee . My spare tire is new but it is 12 years old (not part of the recall:))

All new Michelin M/S2s here also thanks to the recall. Put them to the test on PA's potholes last week. They rode great. They are quieter than the old M/s tires.

PA has great bridges but they can't fill a pothole to save their lives. I was always afraid my old B would hit one and I'd never be seen again.

Huhhhh .... I thought us folks here in CA held that honor. :B

Trust me on this one, I drive to California on a regular basis and it is not even close. Too bad DC doesnt fill the potholes with worthless politicians (either party), they could kill the proverbial two birds with one stone. :B

Six months ago I replaced all 7 tires on my rig with the MS/2. (I replaced the spare also, it was just as old as the others.)
