Slideout Woes

I don't know if you can extend it, but you should be able to retract it manually. Here is a link to HWH retraction procedures

On mine there are two solenoids, one to push the slide open and one to pull the slide shut. When one fails it allows the other to override it. Check your slide fluid level first, then check to see if you have two solenoids...switch them if you do and see if it retracts....good luck...Dennis

It also depends on whether one end of your slide is creeping out or both. If both are extending and you have the HWH slide mechanism more than likely it is the retract solenoic as Dennis mentioned.

However, if only one end of your slide is creeping then it is more than likely the hydraulic ram on that end of the slide leaking internally, or externally if you see evidence of a leak or hose leaking.

EITHER solenoid(extend or retract) if leaking internally can cause slide movement. The usual normal repair is to replace BOTH, since either one can cause slide cylinder movement. This post is a perfect example of the POWER of a Hyd slide ram when NO power is being supplied by the pump. The OP states it PULLED the floor safety mount out of the floor. This is why it is NOT a good idea to put small boards or tubes to hold a Hyd room in. The potential for the leaking ram to poke a hole thru the outside wall with a too small block of wood or metal bar is real. Doug

NEVER swap HWH solenoids. The odds are you will destroy the 3 o-rings when pulling them out. Then they WILL leak externally. EVERY solenoid I have replaced, the original o-rings had nicks or were torn apart. HWH will sell those O-rings, but the odds are the solenoids need replaced anyway if no external leaks. The new solenoids have O-rings. Doug

Find the solenoids for the Slide on the pump. You open the T handles or the 1/4 inch nut on the end of the solenoid and that opens BOTH. Then operate the pump. The fact that the room is not out evenly points to a synch cylinder or a malfunction of one slide ram. Doug

I am new here and own a 2004 Thor Four Winds Infinity Class A. My slids does not have any kind of lock that I can see or find. Are there suppose to have locks on all slides? This is my first RV and live in Kentucky and flew to Fl. to pick up and drove home a little over a thousand miles about a month ago with out a problem. The slides go out and in as they should. Never new they are suppose to have some kind of lock on the slides. Would not want them to come out going down the road. Where would I locate the locks? Thanks

Yours may be different than mine. In the older models, they embedded a couple of brackets in the flooring, with some hooks on the inside of the slide. When you were traveling, you'd simply slide the hooks into the brackets and then hope that you remembered to release the hooks before you tried to open the slide:)

It depends on the design of the slide room and what the OEM required of the slide mechanism makers. Some have slide locks and some do not, it all depends on YOUR specific make and model. Some have built in motor locks, and do not require lock arms. You need to contac the OEM of your Motorhome and ask them. Doug
