small class C recommendations?

We just sold a great little 18ft Rpod TT due to back issues that make it too hard to manage the heavy hitch and are looking for a small class C that will allow us to take our young granddaughters camping in a couple of years. We mostly dry camp, often in forest service campgrounds, so we need something with adequate clearance and would like something small enough to park in our driveway which is 24'. Any recommendations? We are going to the Sacramento RV show tomorrow to take a look, but I value the experience and advice I have seen while reading the posts here. Thanks!

We hadn't really thought about a truck and camper since we would have to buy both. Hopefully there will be some to see at the RV show today. We would need a 4 door truck to be able to take the granddaughters. Thanks for the suggestion.

Would you consider a truck camper , total length sitting on truck could be under 23 ft. ? Depending on the floor plan you might find one that will sleep as many as you need . A 350/3500 SRW truck could get the job done depending on the campers weight.
19.5" tires/wheels are always an option to carry more weight.

Phoenix USA makes model 2350 that is just under 24 feet. The double bed in back along with the couch conversion sleep 4 adults.

If you can tolerate one foot longer, Phoenix is coming out with model 2351D in 2019 which has the rear corner double bed in a slide out to walk around it. Click on the link to see their prototype used for RV shows now.

But the 24'-0" Coachman Coachman Freelander 21QB is hard to beat for 4 people, and it is much more affordable. They are "entry level" rigs requiring a little more TLC along the way to keep it in great shape.

The weight distribution hitch weighed about 50 lb. - very compact weight and hard on the back to get it into the receptacle, as well has up and down to finish the rest of the hitching. We only used the bathroom as a closet and carried water so we didn't have to dump, though our preferences on that may change, especially with preschoolers coming along sometimes! Hoping that we can just get in and go with a small motorhome!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I was hoping there was a true 21 or 22 ft. unit out there somewhere, with the cab over bed for the kids.

I bought a thor 23u just shy of 25 ft. Has a side barrel chair which works well for us. Nice to have a different place to sit besides dinette on rainy days, and at night. It turned over 10k miles after last trip to the sierras and has held up well considering the abuse, bad roads etc. Waterproof and house seems tough. Minor glitches, they all have. Good luck. For our style of camping these days, smaller is better. .especially if you want to be moving more often. We tended to lay around more when we had luxuries of our 40 ft diesel.

Conspicuously missing on that site is the Winnebago Fuse. It is 24โ€™ bumper to bumper. I must ask, though, if managing the hitch on that small R-Pod is too much for your back, donโ€™t you find the tank dumping process a bit difficult, too?
