I'm looking for a source for a split king adjustable bed to fit on my existing platform on a Phaeton 40 QBH. My wife has a medical condition requiring her to sleep with her head elevated due to acid reflux. We recently bought a unit for our home, but in order to use one in the motorhome it must not have legs and have the motor mechanism higher in the frame. I found a source in California selling frames and beds made overseas and on their web site they show a Phaeton with one installed. I would prefer to find a supplier on the east coast so that if there is a problem with the item or supplier, it would be easier to deal with. The dealer I talked with said they had installed several and their website shows three rigs that have them installed.Any leads would be appreciated.

I have no idea what you're looking for but can you build your own frame or have one built?

Not sure how much you are looking to spend, but Sleep Number makes the adjustable, split king beds, in 76x80 or 72x84. They are quite expensive though.

You might try Innomax as well. I understand your dilemma. My in-laws just got the split sleep number for their home and I don't think that would work on a flat platform like the motorhome. It for sure would never work in mine because our bed already raises at the head for bringing in the slides. We can both elevate, but not one at a time.

Thanks guys. We just purchased a unit for our home and you are right about how expensive they are. The units I found sold on the west coast for RV's are close to $5,000 including shipping, but I'm a little reluctant to purchase one without seeing it in person. The frames do not have legs, and the motor and mechanism works above the bottom of the frame, thus permitting the base to sit right on my existing wooden platform that the mattress sits on.

Does she only need to elevate her head or does she need fully adjustability of knees and feet,too? If just the head, could she try something an inflatable wedge under a split mattress? Sharper image and others sell them per Google.

Not sure, but I asked Tiffin that question and they advised me by email a few minutes ago that I might try a 500:1 motor in place of the 300:1 that is installed in my coach. That has me thinking of the split king adjustable bed again.

J-Rooster - Thanks for the tip, we'll give it a try. My wife's situation is different than most acid reflux conditions in that she has been diagnosed with Scleroderma which results in the hardening of internal organs and tissues, and her esophagus does not function. Even the prescribed medicines do not work most the time. We bought a split king adjustable bed for our home a few weeks ago and for the first time in months she has not suffered at night, thus putting me on this mission. Because motorhome king mattresses are a little narrower than the normal split king, I have only found two manufacturers that special make the size to fit the existing platform on our last two motorhomes.

TarHeel 2, My wife gets acid reflux and she takes one teaspoon of organic Apple Cider Vinegar. And, it's gone really fast. Just wanted to throw that out there if you weren't aware of it! Good Luck with your bed.

Another alternative for her is just get split flat mattresses, and put hers on a piece of plywood and raise the entire thing to the height you need. I actually have the same problem as she does, which is why I got the adjustable bed, but I think I'd be more comfortable keeping the mattress flat and just tilting the entire bed. The only problem being you said she needs it higher than most which means if you go to hide she may slide right off the end and onto the floor. But many people who have this same issue solve the problem by simply raising the head of the bed.

I have the bed you are talking about, and yes it is super heavy. But that is mostly all in the memory foam. Sleep Number makes the same bed in the air adjustable version. I can't imagine it weighs all that much.

i am glad you found some sources. I do not own one, so I cannot recommend a specific brand or supplier. It just seems like a much less involved option that might deserve a trial.
