Stove grates rattle

I am new to RVing. Getting use to driving my 21' Class C around before our first trip. One thing that is really bugging my wife, is the rattling noise from the stove grates. Any solutions for this?

I had the same rattle issues. Most of the silicone grommets were missing. They are readily available for cheap and are heat resistant, and totally fixed the rattle issues.

This is our stove. The grates used to resonate loud which bothered us while driving.


I did two things to eliminate the irritation.

1) bend/spread the grates a little open so they are snug inside the alignment holes.

In our rig, the stove is recessed into the counter top. We place the flush counter-top covers on for extra counter space for doing dishes and such, so the covers are on soon after cooking. As part of the ritual, we drop on this silicone rubber pot holder thingy bought at Walmart to eliminate any extra resonating noises.


Between the two, the various stove noises while driving are all gone.

I've i'm involved in an incident that causes the turntable to departs the microwave, that will be a least of my problems.

Camping world sels a cutting board that has 4 rubber gromets that are adjustable and this keeps the grate down, plus you have more counter when not cooking.

I'd stuff towels or paper towels in them.
I'm fussy about rattles in vehicles. But in an RV, I have a completely different standard-which is to ignore anything behind the cab area that is not a harmful noise. I'm completely at peace with the sounds of the rolling home-and the stove certainly is a source of some of them.

Actually, the microwave dish/turntable should not be left in the micro wave, but placed securely in a drawer, otherwise, it might fly out during a sudden stop.

If you have some pieces of Styrofoam laying around you might not have to buy anything. Don't forget to cushion the microwave turntable too.

Part of the normal 'heading out' routine is to stuff things into the items that rattle. I generally use a set of very high tech, rattle absorbing devices (rags) and put them around the coffee cups, on the stove, in the oven, etc...

We have found that a few things rattle on our stove. We do not have individual grates on each burner, we have one large grate that covers all 3 burners. We do have a cover on ours. The cover rattles and so does the entire stove top. The stove top just sits on the counter, it's not fastened down.

snowdance's suggestion works well with individual grates. We just put a towel between the grate and the cover and that helps a lot. Not much we can do about the entire stove top from rattling or bouncing over bumps and pot holes.
