How much should it cost to have a thermometer on this motorhome changed? Or is it a hard job to do it yourself if your neighbor (thank God) is an excellent mechanic?

It is super easy. Should take less than an hour and that includes cleaning up your tools and using the toilet.

Thermostat or Thermometer? In the subject you have T-Stat. If it is accessible it is very easy. If you neighbor is a mechanic he should have no trouble doing this. If it is hard to get to there may be some challenges to work through. Usually they are reasonably accessible.
