Thermostat set on auto, turns off when turning on a light

I have a 2001 Dutchmen 31S class C. My over ac works great but lately I've been having an issue. Whether I'm on the generator or plugged in my ac while in auto mode will turn off if u turn a light on. It's almost like its reached its temp and shuts down. It will turn back on after a few min. If I have it on regular mode not auto it's not an issue. Maybe thermostat or inverter problem? Anyone had this issue before?
  • General thing to check.. When you turn on a 12 volt light and other lights go dim it usaly means a dirty of loose ground connection. Unhook all batterys ect. Go under the rig and unhook, clean and rehook every wire hooked to the frame from the front to the back bumper. Odds are good you will fix the problem.
  • What type of thermostat?? An older Dometic may act this way.
  • Something in the circuit may be dragging your 12 volt DC power down so that turning on the light reduces power to the thermostat, or the house battery may be near dead as mentioned above.Check voltage at the battery, should be over 13 volts if converter is charging it. You may need to clean battery terminals, check electrolyte levels, add distilled water if needed to cover the plates in battery.
