That's exactly what I use (the "on" at 35F version). I hooked it up to a work light with a 100w bulb yesterday. I got mine at a farm and ranch store.

I use the Thermocube for freeze protection in the plumbing bay of my RV. I have a small 1500 W heater connected to it. I can prevent freezing without running a heater constantly. On at 35 deg. and off at 45 deg. is perfect!

Got couple last week. The Lowes cube (different manufacture)has an indicator light to let you know if elec is being released to the socket but only has one plug in the cube and about the same price. And you should be able to see if light is on anyway so Home Depot type is what we are going to use. The "light" part of your question had me doing some tinkering yesterday. The old fashion bulb(100 watt)we never had a problem in our shed (some canned goods)or RV. I'm not sure the newer bulbs will work so good. Much less temps are generated with newer type bulbs. So today going to collect old style bulbs from around house to keep just for the temps they put out and replace them with the newer low temp bulbs in order to have bulbs that actually do the job and prevent freeze ups. To test I put into freezer for about 1/2 hour and then tested with a light. So far so good. Home depot style packaging says "On at 35 and off at 45"

Got mine from Wal-Mart, $12.57 ea. Free delivery to store if you have to order them from online.

I have 2 of 'em.. I think I got one at a "Farm & Fleet" type place (possibly Tractor Supply center) and the other at Home Depot or Lowes.

They are sold in the farm stores for stock tank heaters

And in the Home Improvement stores for pipe heaters and eves heater strips.

One of mine looks a bit like a standard 3-way outlet adapter (the flat kind which plugs into one half of a duplex receptical or the outlet end of an extension cord and has 3 outlets side by side) but it only has 2 outlets.

The other is a bit different it has only one outlet, and an indicator light.

I use one for the tank heaters (inside the wet bay) and one for the hose heater (Free Air)
