Tire advice

Over inflation of a tire is what makes it handle poorly, especially if the tires are new. Just because a tire requires more PSI for the weight it's carrying does not mean it's over inflated. Instead of putting six 295/80.22.5 tires on the back of my DP ($$$$) I went with 11R22.5 which required an increase from 80 to 90 psi because the 11R22.5 has a lower load rating than a 295. Increasing by 10 psi has not changed the handling at all.

X-2, Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) has a tire deal with Michelin Tire Company. It's the Michelin Tire Fleet Tire Program and you can buy Michelin Tires at a discount compared to going to a Michelin Dealer and paying a higher price for the same tire. The only difference that I know of between the two mentioned tires is Michelin makes there tires with soft rubber and Hankook makes a hard rubber tire.

I recently shopped for 275-80-22.5 "G". I am convinced that Hankook has good tires but they are all at least 6 months older than the freshest Michelins I could find. I assume they are older because they must be shipped from Korea.

If you consider the date code, dealer network, breadth of assortment, and the FMCA price it was not too hard to rebuy the Michelins.

I'm running 6 Hankook on the rear and they ride smooth without balancing them. If the Michelin are not XRV I might go with them over the Hankook.
As for Continental... many of the tour buses in Canada run them, but I have not.

There is a card on the drivers side door that says 105 front and 95 rear.

Don't know why they post that info, unless they like getting the owner/operator in some sort of possible trouble. You need to weigh each axle and inflate accordingly using the the tire's inflation chart and I always add a 10-15psi cushion for the many variables that one might encounter while traveling.

Based on my personal experience with Michelin and the difference being $170 I would probably go with the Michelins. I would also check some other sources for pricing just to make sure I was getting as good a price as was available close to home.
