Tire Monitors.....

We have owned our 2007 Itasca Impulse for just under a year now, and had been carefully planning aspects of being in it for the previous 18 months

I had a long list of things I wanted to get or have done to it in phase 1 - most of which have been done....

Things like:

Fit an Extend-a-Stay Propane adapter
Fit waste tank heating blankets.....

I have just purchased a Tireminder monitoring set and would like some advice from any of you that have these fitted

Next month we will be driving from Vegas to Bryce Canyon for a three month volunteer stint in the National Park

Onced we have parked the RV and set it all up there - should we remove the 6 tire sensors whilst it is parked for those three months?

In particular - should we remove the batteries from the tire sensors to prolong their lives?

Any advice you can give would be welcome

    I'd keep them on and not worry about it. RV's have so much maint to worry about those batts is just 1 more thing. They'll probably last a while anyway!

    I don't have TireMinder, but TST, but I bet they are similar. Sensors stay on the tires throughout the travel season. They are sending their signal whether the wheels are turning or not. I do remove them over the winter, as that turns off the transmitters. Just had to replace some of the batteries this season - they had been in there for almost 3 years. So for me I doubt I would remove them for your 3 month period, but no harm if you did. Do make sure you have LABELLED each sensor as to which wheel it goes to, otherwise if you put them back on different wheels your readings will be wrong! ST

    We always leave ours on. We can replace our batteries ourselves on the system we now have, so we just replace them every year.

    The sensors use very little power from the batteries. I think you should leave them alone and just replace as needed. Most of these things go well over a year before they show low battery.
