Upgraded Water Pump

Question

ReplacementThis is me saying for the public record that my husband was RIGHT and I was WRONG to wait so long to replace the original water pump on our motorhome.  I kept saying that it would be a waste of money because the new one would make just as much noise as the original.  DH installed the one in the above link yesterday and it is so quiet I have to strain to hear it from inside the coach.  The Other Chief

Mine has been making noise for a long time.  I haven't even looked into replacing it.......do you have to replace the existing one with an exact replacement,  or will any pump work?  Like I said,  I haven't checked into it at all yet.  Thanks

Only took him about 45 minutes including getting out the tools and cleaning up.

Shurflo 4008 is a good replacement pump. (3 gpm/55 psi)

Especially if you have a couple of the obsolete/no longer in production models
such as the Shurflo Classic (2088) and the Shurflo Extreme (4900/5900)

Shurflo 4048 is another good replacement (4 gpm/55 psi)

I replaced my 5.7GPM Sure Flow "Smart Pump" that lasted a whopping 11 years, about 6 months ago with the 4008. So far, it's maybe a bit quieter and seems to pump as good as the old 5.7 did. The pressure's about the same, maybe a tad more.
