Warranty Maintanance requirements?

I have a 2015 Thor Vegas on the Ford E-350 V10 chassis. I normally do all my own maintanence work like oil/fluid changes. Am I allowed, by Ford, to do it myself without voiding the Ford warranty? What records do I need to keep to prove I have done required work?:h
  • Keep all your receipts. Look at your owners manual for oil change frequency. Some manufactures have a mileage or time limit. Could be as soon as 6 months or every 12 months. Most oil change's on a MH will probably be a time limit instead of a mileage limit due to the fact they are not driven that many miles each year so if you go by miles you could possibly not comply with the manufactures specs, and they can deny a claim because you went over the time period for a oil change, say 14 months, instead of the required 12 months.
    They can be real picky.
  • Since a motor home is something you often have for awhile, but don't service as frequently as a car, I like to keep my own records. Often, your Ford manual will have a section in the back that has all the service requirements and several pages to track it.

If it doesn't, I like to create my own service schedule and list all of my filters, how much oil it takes and the type. This way I can pull it out, buy my supplies and complete the work.
  • Always check where you stand on the warranty issues with the Dealers they love to void warranty claims. I'm telling you this from experience. Check and Double Check. Know your rights!!!
  • No auto dealer is allowed BY LAW to require you to bring the vehicle to them for service. They can require receipts and some documentation that proves the service was done but they cannot prevent you from doing your own service.

  • oil , filter and anything you replace that is due. I have never had an issue doing it this way, either Ford, GM, or Mercedes. Mercedes even gave me a account that I send in my info when I change or add fluids. As you said a Date receipt for needed supplies. Also your date of change and mileage. Reset you meter is you have.
  • Yep! Call Ford, get the person's name and rank in case you have issues later. Any comments on the internet are only worth what you're paying for them...zero, zilch, nada etc. etc....Dennis
