Do you leave a little Water in the toilet to keep the seal lubricated, is this a good idea. I also heard RV Antifreeze is even better.

I fill a ballon to about the size of a softball and drop it in the bowl. Seals completly, dosent dry up and protects the seal.

I don't store my coach during the winter anymore, but that is a great idea Chuck! We use Olive Oil on the seals of our dishwasher (at our stick built home) before we head out to Arizona for the winter. Olive Oil works great!

X-2, I do the same, since I don't winterize my coach during the winter anymore. And, when I'm traveling I use a 1/4 cup of Blue Dawn and 3 gallons of water down in the black tank to clean the bottom of the tank when I'm on the road.

Water is not a good idea as it becomes pretty funky after a few weeks. I leave RV antifreeze in the toilet when I know it's going to be sitting for more than a couple of weeks. My 10 year old motorhome still loses no water at the toilet seal.

Leave water in commode to make a seal so that odors cannot come from the tank into the "house". When stored for any length of time in dry climates I put a little mineral oil in the commode to float on top of the water to keep it from evaporating.

Hello Edda,

Yes I do, but take what I do with a grain of salt. I don't leave the water in to lube the seal but to stop any odors coming up from the holding tank. Kind of like a trap under a sink:E

I keep water in the toilet during the warmer months and RV antifreeze during the winter.
Some pour a little 303 Protectant in the toilet to lube seal.
