Water pump

Good morning, I have a question about the fresh water pump in our coach. I haven't posted in a while so I hope that I am asking in the correct place. I did a quick search but did not see a problem like this.
The coach, '05 Mandalay, has only been out a few times this summer. I noticed the water pump to be a little louder than I think it should be. Over the weekend while camping, I went to use the kitchen sink and no water came out, no pump noise, nothing. Checked the bathroom sink and nothing there either. I went over to the panel, turned the switch off, waited a few moments, turned it back on and the pump worked. This happened a couple more times before we made it home last night. The pump was replaced when it was a couple years old.
Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated.
I'm thinking it is time for a new pump.

Well Gang,
I just replaced our 11 year old Sureflow Smart Sensor 5.7 that was in our '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT. Until the last couple of camp trips, it had performed flawlessly. But, on the last one, it had pumped its last drop. So, I picked up the general replacement, 4008 3.0 GPM 55 PSI one. Yes, the install points are a tad different but, no big deal. It is quieter than the 5.7, that's for sure.

Good designs last for years.
When I was restoring 1965 Airstream trailer, the original pump, with big crank and big rubber diaphragm had crack in diaphragm.
I went with the parts in hand to West Marine and turn out the same model is still in supply, but is consider upscale models with >$150 price tag.
I bought rebuild kit and the original motor still work.
For years I am considering variable speed pump, but could not justify the price.
It is just water pump afterall.

I recently replaced the ShurFlo water pump in my '99 Newmar. The model had been discontinued, but the replacement from ShurFlo is MUCH quieter than the original. The mounting is slightly different, but was not much of an issue other than having to reposition the screw holes for the mount.

I'm glad you found your issue. I'd like to thank you for closing the thread with the results of your troubleshooting. Most of the threads I've read here regarding troubleshooting end without the OP reporting the results.

I pulled the pump and tested it and it is indeed shot. Not only was in only working intermittingly, it looks like it overheated and the fuse holder just before the pump got very hot/distorted. I am surprised it did not blow the fuse.
The pump is a Shurflo 5900-0201 5.7 . I was never pleased with how much noise it made even when it was new. I don't believe this pump is even made anymore and not sure if I wouldn't go with another brand anyway.
Would anyone have a recommendation on a suitable/direct replacement? I read that Aquatec pumps are good.

Thanks for the response. Not looking forward to replacing it again. It wasn't easy when I did it 6 years ago!

Sounds like possibly the pressure switch in the pump, or a bad motor on the pump. New pump time. But check the connections to the pump first. Might have become corroded or loose.
