- yizitExplorerWe just went thru this with our dealer for our trade in. He wanted to confirm that the correct year of the chassis is listed on the title. He commented that some dealers use the date of the build date, which is incorrect. Could it depend on the State in which it was purchased? If, what is being said about the 8th # from the right, ours was titled correct.

That only works on one of my five vehicles.
I should have been more specific. The 8th digit from the end of the VIN will be the model year for years 2001-2009. Anything after that will be a letter starting with A for 2010 through Y for 2030. 2031 - 2039 will be numbers again.
Here is the complete table and reference to the documentation from ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Clicky to review ISO 3779. - SebtownExplorerMy Airstream Sprinter is registered as 2007 Airstream using the chassis vin which translates to a 2006 Freighliner Sprinter. Big changes between the 06 and 07 chassis and engine. If I ever (not likely) decide to sell it I think I will call it a 2006 so it won't be confused for a 6cyc
- FastpaddlerExplorerIn Canada, where ironically many Sprinter products are made ie GWV,PW,RT,LT, when you buy an RV if the chassis is 2012 you wont be buying it as a 2013. My PW Plateau is a 2006 chassis with a 2007 interior build but it is registered as a 2006.Same applies to most B vans I have seen here. In the USA the dealers seem to get away with selling 2012 chassis vehicles as 2013 models. So it should go by the chassis registered/manufactured date, not the build date. But if one isnt concerned about this, so be it.
- Horizon170ExplorerMark, I can't answer that but it seems the 8th digit works in your case. The coach Mfg. would NOT have a VIN but would have a year of manufacture I believe.
Your Vehicle is probably a 2005 and the year the coach Mfg. completed it was 2006. Now the question is what does your particular state go by. - Arizona_KidExplorerNADA is not very reliable where Roadtreks, and some others are concerned. Their prices are usually quite a bit lower than what those B's are actually selling for.
I think you can Email Roadtrek the Vin no. and they can tell you year, model, options ordered, etc.
I'm pretty sure the model year is what is on the registration. - markf57Explorer

The chassis year is 2005. I know that. I'm wanting to know the Roadtrek model year. Does the Roadtrek portion also have a VIN?
BTW, the 8th digit from the end is a 5 on the chassis VIN.
But the bigger question is does NADA use the chassis VIN or the Roadtrek model year in the valuations it provides. There is a big difference between 2005 and 2006.

- Horizon170ExplorerWon't the VIN# show the date of Mfg. for the vehicle?
