Get a roll of black electrical tape, and start by putting it whereever you think the sound is coming from. May be hard to find. Older Hurricanes had a noise which got to be called the "Hurricane Whistle" that very few ever found. In most cases, it was air going in the front grill. Some got relief by adding a screen. Just to say, get a positive location before doing anything expensive.
