Winnebago Ceiling

I have a 94 Brave and the vinyl ceiling is sagging. There is no evidence of water leaking. I believe the glue is losing it's grip on the foam that is glued to the ceiling. There are plastic strips that hold the vinyl sections up. Can this be taken down and the vinyl re-glued? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  • I know you have to do a really good job of cleaning off the old glue on the vinyl and foam panels to get the vinyl to stick once re-glued. There is a 3-M adhesive that RV'ers have used for this. I don't remember what it is called.
  • Quick and simple answer is no. You will not be able to get any glue to stick to the vinyl. I have replaced my 95Brave ceiling for the same reason. The foam deterates after a couple years and turns into a sticky mess, i have tried everything available to clean it off the vinyl and it just turns it black. See this link for pictures of my before and after.

    probably 3M 4200 or 5200?
    bumpy
  • I used a butter knife to push it back into the vinyl then used a regular paper stapler opened up and stapled it fast to the ceiling.
  • The old foam residue and adhesive is very tough to remove. I would not even try using a vacuum because I'm sure it would ruin the whole vacuum unit. The entire ceiling on my 94 Itasca Suncruiser has sagged during the past 7 years, and I'm at a loss to find a material that could be fastened over the sagging ceiling. I use staples to keep the sagging ceiling in place where it has pulled the edges out of the cross bars.
  • My '93 Itasca (Winnebago) started to go about 4 years ago. Now the whole ceiling has sagged.

It is too pricy and labor-intensive to remove the ceiling and replace it.

White Thumb tacks are the answer for me. 88 cents at Wal-Mart. I put them in a neat and uniform pattern so that it doesn't look so bad. Visitors to the coach thought that it was supposed to look that way.
  • Great ideas. Thanks to all. I like the white thumb tack trick. I also bought some of the 3M adhesive. Will give it a try this weekend!
