Winterizing Problem - 2003 Journey 36DL

Hi Folks, I'm having trouble getting anti-freeze to flow out a gallon jug. The pump runs, but no anti-freeze leaves the jug. I drained all the water out of the pipes and tanks and left one spigot open. also flipped the Winterize and Bypass switches. I can hear a solenoid thump when I flipped the Bypass switch, but hear nothing when I flip the Winterize switch. How can I tell if the Winterize switch is open?
Any help will be much appreciated. ....Doug
  • I installed a "new" syphon kit on our new MH this month. I could not get the antifreeze to flow from the jug either. It would go 3/4 of the way up the tube to the pump and stop. Finally I disconnected it (siphon kit) and attached a hose ( which I purchased) with a fitting that would screw onto the pump coming from the water tank side. It worked fine with that setup.

I'm not saying that's your problem, just sharing some ideas. I have no idea why he new syphon li didn't work. Just bought it at camping world. It was probably sucking air from the water tank as it wasn't sealing completely.
  • In Winnebago land there is a white widget on the bottom that looks like it just weights the hose to the bottom of the jug. But there is a cap on it that isn't obvious the first time
  • On my Vacationer (2006) there is another valve on the bottom water line that must be turned off for pump to suck anti-freeze out of bottle or it only sucks from fresh water tank
  • I had a 2001 39 foot Winnebago Journey DL that when I drained everything at the low point drain, most of the time the water pump would loose it's prime. Would have to play with it to get it primed again and going again.
  • Pump should be self priming-- not run into an RV pump that wasn't.

Go open a faucet so the pump has somewhere to pump TO.
  • Is the valve a 3 way, or is there another valve to shut off the fresh water tank?
  • On my draw hose I have a twist valve where it connects to the water pump. Make sure its in the correct(open)position.
  • Here's a stupid question because its easy to miss..
Did you remove the cap on the bottom of the draw hose?
