winterizing

I just installed a new water pump...on the coach--before I did the old pump did not pump the anti freeze very well so thought the pump was gone...the new one does't pump all that well...I have an 03 Winnebago, with the tube you drop in the antifreeze and open the faucets in the coach till the stuff makes it up there...the problem now is the antifreeze is being sucked out of the plastic jug, but does not come out the faucets, showers, etc...I have checked for leaks, but there does not seem to be any...I also have the divert valves in the correct position..where do you think the antifreeze is going ...I sucked 3 gallons with the pump and very little came out the faucets...man what a problem...thanks

I keep wondering why people keep fighting trying to get that yucky pink stuff through their water lines. Post after post about the problems. Just blow everything out with a compressor. You're done. No problems. In the spring just fill your tanks and you are good to go. Use a little chlorine bleach in your first fill up. JMHO

thanks for the advice...you do what you want and I will handle mine
  • You could be pumping the pink stuff into you water heater if your water heater bypass valve is not working correctly.

I agree with the post about using air. When I had our Winnebago, I never used the pink stuff... just drained all the water and used a compressor to blow out the system. Poured the pink stuff down the P traps and that was it. Never had a problem.

Now that I have a rig with Aqua Hot, it seems I must use the RV antifreeze for the Aqua Hot unit.
  • Pumped 3 gallons of antifreeze into the fresh water tank before I realized the valve was turned to "fresh water fill". Drained it in a bucket and started over, this time with the valve in "Normal" position. Took an extra 10 minutes, no biggie!! Lesson learned.....??

  • thanks...didn't think of that, will drain the tank tomorrow and catch some ...
  • My guess is it's going into your fresh water tank, might be a valve open somewhere.
