Ken, I have a 2005 travel supreme and my converter is exactly as yours, located behind the right rear wheels and it has an air vent in the inner wall. I have had periodic over heating with mine also. I added and external "computer type" fan to the air vent on the converter itself and that will solve the problem. I believe that the air vent on the compartment itself can be a dirt or water problem in the condition that you described. Will covering the air vent on the compartment make it too hot within the compartment when the converter is operating? Anyway just some comments to consider.
