Yellowstone and 30ft Motorhomes

Our rig is 23'-8" end-to-end, and a narrow 93" wide. As small as it is by "motor home" standards, we still tow our Jeep Liberty for the very reasons others already mentioned. If the rig cannot fit into a typical "car" parking spot, you will miss out on the very things you traveled so far to see.

Towing either a trailer to sleep in, or a vehicle to get around in, we like our decision to have the later MANY PICTURES SEEN HERE.

31' Class C and a towed van. We had no problems in Grant Village with reservations, and there are usually spaces available you can fit into if you can get there early in the day.

I suspect the published depth on a lot of these sites doesn't take into account overhang for trailers or Class C's.

I have gone to Yellowstone 16 times with various rvs both towing and not. I took my Jeep and it was easier but I was in a bus then. I have to say the last couple times we did not tow and too the motorhome. I had to get up early to see a few places but we toured in the coach with no problem. I am 29 foot long. It was easier actually but we needed to wait a bit sometimes to get a spot but we would have breakfast lunch and dinner in the coach. Take a nap by the river and watch the sunset before heading back. I could sit for a couple hours and watch a buffalo herd and or just watch stuff around me. I found the hardest place to park was the areas that had lines turning in but I hit those in the morning early before the park got crowded. Take the coach, it is a great way to tour that park. The Tetons were also mostly accessible but Jackson hole was a bit of a challenge but a couple blocks off the main drag was fine.

Agree with 626, we went through Yellowstone on Memorial Day in a 25 foot and had zero issues, and if we were 5 feet longer I don't think it would have changed a thing. Same trip we spent several days camped next to a young family in a rental 32" with two kids and two very large dogs. They had zero RV experience and were running Yellowstone and the Tetons, they reported zero issues as well. We did the south loop out of Jackson.

As part of this same trip we ran through SLC and spent a few days with friends in Eagle Mt, UT. The highway through SLC on Memorial Day 2020 was by far the worst condition interstate highway I've ever driven. It was unbelievable, I would have preferred a rural gravel road. I agree with 626 there too, SLC is way worse than anything you will experience in Yellowstone.

We were just in Yellowstone last week in a 32 ft class c with no toad. There was little difficulty with any of the roads in Yellowstone it self. We only drove the West Yellowstone, MT entrance to Madison Campground and up to Old Faithful.

There was some construction by Old Faithful just look closely at the direction signs as it was a little confusing but not a challenge to drive.


The drive through Salt Lake was by far worse than any of the roads in Yellowstone area. Will they ever finish the road work there?

They actually went to the bunkers en-mass 4 different times. Or as a member probably said: "Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me three times, but fool me the fourth and I start to think maybe the end really isn't near. Any chance I can have all my worldly goods back?."

a would want a towed to get around the various stops in Yellowstone. but your questions confuse me. seems like a 25 ft without a toad and a 30 ft with a toad makes more sense.

We have done it twice, both times in our 29' class C, (which actually measures 30.5 ft) and toad, had no problems fitting into Madison, or
Bridge Bay CG's, getting around can be done either way, but getting around with the toad far easier.
So to actually answer your question, I would combine the two options and take the 30 footer and toad.
