All cast iron has stress. Old iron was aged to remove/relax the stress. Today that isn't the case, so it is good to see that at least one manufacturer realizes the potential there and does the right thing. About thirty miles from me is a pipe plant that does large valves for industry. They are cast overseas and sit in their yard for as much as a year before they are machined. The time allows the iron to relax. The small margins on cookware, probably don't allow for this.
