FYI, if you feel like making hearth style bread

Hearth bread at home
This video demonstrates a not-so-impossible way of making a really good artisan bread, with commonly found tools and ingredients. There are links under the video for more information.
  • His method obviously works, but for RV'er who don't have a processor this will also so work. It's so easy to clean I have never bothered with the processor or the mixer for our daily loaves.

Using autolyse and forgoing the knead, which isn't necessary if time is substituted. Bread can be made with little more than a scale, hand mixer and a couple of measuring spoons. I use a sherbert container from start to finish for my dough.
  • Go Dogs, thanks so much for sharing this recipe and method. The bread looks fabulous and the method couldn't be easier. I will try very soon!
  • That is all we use for day to day bread. I make mine in a Lodge 2qt CI Dutch Oven and mix it by hand. Flour, water, yeast, salt and sugar, a little mixing and 40 minutes in the oven and you have bread. I make 2 or 3 loaves a week.
