The thing would never get hot enough to sear a steak good. never reached 500 degrees.went shopping today and all of them are four 12 thousand btu burners or three if smaller than 27 inches or 60 thousand with five burners but a much larger grill surface. Several of them had, instead of an eye on the side burner a "Searer".That's crazy. You have to sear one steak at a time and I guess keep them all warm and over done on the main grill.Lowes, Wall Mart, Cosco, Sams all seem to have the same ones with maybe a different brand name though Lowes had one that said made in North America,Mexico most likely. Stainless for 800.00 except the bottom of the grill was ceramic coated which means death by rust anyway in two or three years.I want a good grill, with replaceable brass jets in heaavy stainless tubes and everything else in a heavy heat resistant grade of stainless, not plated or designed to be replaced right away. I would like to buy one that will outlast me. Last thing I like is shopping for grills and assembling them and paying a fortune for them and not getting a properly cooked steak, hamburger or whatever.

yep, in an expensive grill I want stainless or cast aluminum. no steel to rust out. and I want to be sure that I can get replacement grates.bumpy

Only way you can get a really long lasting grill these days is to build one yourself out of bricks/stones and make the cooking surface size flexible enough to take any griddle/grate you can get. Everything these days is built to be replaced, not repaired. Not just grills, EVERYTHING. Since this is for your sticks and bricks, masonry is the way to go.

We are on our second Weber Grill. We have it connected to gas. I think our last Weber lasted us about 8 years, but we use our BBQ year round.

Several of us understood it to be a condescending attitude since like Ray noted, he quoted Ray directly as part of his post. Direct quotes are a reply to a specific person, just as I'm replying to you and indicating that by directly quoting you, bumpy road.

It has to do with Internet forum conversational cues. Those who aren't familiar with those cues make mistakes and little mo was mature enough to apologize. Good for you littlemo!

Thank you. In cyber groups like this forum whenever you hit the quote button and then respond to what someone says with their name on it you probably don't know that means your comment is pointed right at the person you're quoting. If your comment disagrees then that's taken as a put down or attack. Now you know and thanks for your apology.

And some live in regions or locales that discourage you from grilling year round. Northern winters are not conducive to cooking on decks,terraces, roof tops(where I occasionally grilled) and backyards. Most I know tarp and bungee cord their grills during the colder months.
