My old electric pressure cooker died. Does ANYBODY make one that doesn't come with Teflon? Are they all digital now? Dang, the world has moved on and left me behind. :E
Yes and mostly yes. Ours is both digital and has a stainless steel insert that can be removed and washed in the dw. Several brands have the stainless steel insert. Ours will also work as a rice cooker and several other functions. Google or Bing "stainless steel digital pressure cooker". - rockhillmanorExplorerCooks Country/America's Test Kitchen TV program just did a real thorough test on pressure cookers just this week. Real interesting stuff about all things pressure cooker. Might check there for which one is the best to use.
BTW: Teflon is officially not being 'made' anymore. I think the gov deadline for that was last month. They had like 6 years to phase it out. Of course it will still be found on shelves until they are all gone!
I had 4 birds die several years ago when a pot on the stove boiled out.
I haven't let teflon in my house or RV for over 20 years now after reading just how bad it is for you! :W
electric vs stove top and best pressure cooker tested
http://www.americastestkitchen.com/search?q=Pressure+Cookers - Ramblin_RecksExplorerWe have this one, Pressure Cooker 6 in 1, with SS pot.Very Chinese but works very well. We use it a lot as a pc,rice pot, and slow cooker.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerThey even make microwave pressure cookers. Haven't tried those yet. I use the old fashioned one on top of the gas stove. I think the digital one would be OK if you unplug it before you unplug from shore power. Some inverters play havoc with digital appliances. We fried 2 digital coffee pots until we discovered that.
- Mine died this week as well and I thought no problem. . .just order a new one. Then I read this thread! OOPS! Now what to do. I am going to try Yoder's, the Amish store in Shipshewana this summer. That is where I bought all the parts I needed for my old one. Maybe they have the old style.
I did buy a horribly expensive one at an RV show a few years ago and never learned to use it. Guess now is the time.
Dale - swtgranExplorerI use stove top models, except for a little 2 qt one I got from Midnight box for $19.
If I were going to go all electric, stainless steel, I would go with the one Ramblin Reks mentioned.
I like the versatility of the stove tops, and if you are careful to get a brand that has been made for years, you will usually be able to get parts.
Pressure cooker is a necessity in our house and camper. terry r. - SWMOExplorer

The old/new ones don't seem all that different except for some changes in the pressure valve. That's just an observation, not fist hand experience. We have 3 all together and I still prefer the old rattle weight. The only thing about the one we have is the size.
Ad an old journeyman electrician I'm never comfortable with an electronic board doing my thinking for me.:B - Cuffs054ExplorerSWMO
x2 what you are saying. I tried a fancy adjustable unit and just didn't have good luck. I continue to use my Presto and kind of like the noise the weight makes. In fact I will do my corned beef in it on Sun. - ridingfamily4Explorerplease excuse my ignorance - what do you use a pressure cooker for? I've never used one (or felt the need for one). What am I missing out on?? I have purchased (or been given) so many kitchen appliances that I end up either giving away or donating from non-use.
years ago, my MIL gave me an old one with no instructions, after years of storing it, I donated it. We never had the kind of relationship that I could ask, without taking abuse for not knowing what to do with it. - PatStabExplorerI use them for quick cooking meat, also it will tenderize any meat that is tough.
I took mine in the motorhome, cooked a pork roast to make barbecue, cooked beef roast for soup, about 20 minutes. It will fall off the bone.
I bought mine a few years ago and its just a plain old fashioned stainless pressure cooker, a small one Also have a huge canning pressure cooker.
