Audio connection question

General question- on the back of my Samsung BluRay player, there's a single, black RCA-type connector that's labeled "coaxial audio out" or something to that effect. What are my connection options with this connector?

I understand that HDMI carries both audio and video signals to the TV/monitor.

My scenario is this- I have a JVC car stereo, and would like to get my BluRay audio IN to the car stereo. I have an AUX Input (two RCA audio connectors) on my car stereo. Is there a way to take that black, single RCA coaxial audio from the Bluray player, and split it into dual, red and white RCA audio connectors to feed into my stereo?

Just curious.

Thanks!

Are both of those items the same? Just one's wayyyy cheaper than the other, lol?

Looks like the $12 one from Amazon will work for me, no?

    Thanks for the feedback, all!

That single connection on the back of your samsung is similar to the fibre-optic cable. It carries a lot of audio information that is intended to go to a receiver that is capable of processing the information. Your JVC will not be able to use this connection.

There may be other options. What is the model number of your JVC stereo?

My deck is a JVC KW-HDR81BT. I also bought the optional adapter for the rear audio input- it converts a proprietary plug to dual RCA jacks.
  • That "Black" connector is slightly smaller than RCA jack
It's fiber optic digital audio, for multi channel signals
