Chrome cast

Has anyone tried to use a chrome cast on there tv and connect there smart phone to it. I know we should be camping...lol
  • It appears that Chromecast uses almost twice the bandwidth of a smart tv or Rocu. If you use a smart phone or Jetpack the phone connects and uses data and the tv also connects and separately uses data.
  • Thanks wa8. I have a problem to connecting too. Just sortove gave up on it. Will try Roku

I used to do that but gave up. THe nature of what and when I watch it did not help

NOTE: Chromecast. by DEFAULT will eat bandwidth, when I first got it that was not a problem but later in life I figured out how to disable that feature (You need the APP on your phone)

The "Screensaver" mode is a sequence of photos. All downloaded every one every time it is displayed.. I have not been able to figure out how to point it at my server.

Page 2. Though the Chrome case shows up in my list of WI-FI nodes. I find that I can not work it that way.. I have to connect to a "Common router" with both the cast unit and the casting device. Not a problem for me...

But I only watch 1.25 hours of network video a month that is "Cast Worthy" (Ham Nation 1/week and Amateurlogic.TV 1/month)

And I found that on the odd case when I need SHARP focus video I do better with the laptop screen than the TV. Better monitor.
  • Yes I have and it worked okay but I found Roku to be a better option. You may want to look into it to see if it would be a better fit for your needs.
