Recently installed the Winegard Roadtrip T4 to replace a Roadtrip SD that was obsolete with the change in DISH signals. When I installed, I had to get Winegard tech support help due to older receiver a 311 and poor signal. At my house trees prevented a good signal. Anyway now on the road and I can't get any Dish signal. I've been through the installation/setup several times trying the 110, 119 and 129 satellites with various transponders. It seems to be setting up and I get a signal verification but no actual programs. If I push guide on the remote it gives the appropriate programming but no shows are visible, blank screen. Winegard is having staffing issues and after lengthy hold on Friday, gave up and kept trying setup. NO support this weekend either by phone or email. I fear on Monday it will be futile to get hold of anyone.Anyone here have any suggestions. At least my antennae works. We are on a hill in Santa Fe NM with lots of stations but no satellite. Yes and a clear southern view.

Are you checking channels like Food Network or are you trying to get your local Network programming like ABC, NBC, etc. which are not available when out of your home area?The Winegard comes out of the box setup for DirecTV. Did you change the dip switches inside the dome to the ones required for Dish? Is that antenna compatible with the 311? When was the 311 last online to where you were actually watching Dish programming using that receiver?

If sats 110, 119, and 129 are all locked in as indicated by your Dish receiver, you should be able to view programming you have subscribed to unless your receiver needs to be re-activated. If we haven't used our Dish network service in our RV for awhile I can have our sat system all set up and locked in but still have no programming. A quick call to Dish to reset our VIP receiver and while we are still on the phone all the programming comes in, even have used Dish chat when WiFi was available. Just a few weeks of non-use causes our VIP receiver to de-activate. Have fun in The City Different!!!

The satellite antenna is set for Dish and we had it working earlier. An earlier stop in Arkansas a few days ago and we had it working but it took a long time to get actual shows to be displayed. When we moved to NM I set the zip for the local area and no I'm not trying to get local channels, just the normal package. Odd thing is I can get the menu showing the channels, just can't get the actual channels to show the "show". I can't imagine the receiver needs to be reactivated after traveling a couple days. I did unplug the home receiver when we left last week but I wouldn't think that would be a factor.

Local channels for satellite means spot beamed channels. Once you leave the Alabama spot beam area you have to contact Dish for them to send the new local channels, ie ABC, NBC, etc. This is not OTA local channels. Arkansas might have been close enough to get the Alabama channels.The Zip code is ONLY used to help point the dish at the birds.

Does the receiver show the correct SW64 switch? Does the receiver show that you are getting a good signal strength on any or all of the satellites? Have you tried to follow the Winegard Check Switch procedure again? If so, have you tried a Check Switch with no coax connected to clear the switch and then following the Winegard procedure again "exactly".

Well all is good for the time being. I went on the peak angle page and put in the info for each satellite and made sure all the I's were dotted and blocks checked/unchecked. Getting the appropriate channels. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I move again.

No, it would not eliminate the cost of a person since that call would only be a 1 in a million call. If you ever saw the movie "Bad Santa" then you understand when I say "Wish in one hand and ..... in the other" and see which one fills up first. There is no financial incentive of any kind for Dish or DirecTV to offer special services to users that generate zero additional dollars to the services used.

You're probably right but it would eliminate the cost of a real person and hopefully the computer would get it right every time while DTV support is perhaps 60 percent right the first time. And it would reduce my time on the phone.

I'll keep wishing...

Those of us that need that kind of a service are such a teeny tiny slice of the DTV or Dish customer base that it would be of no value to them to do something like that.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this and can't remember the last time I had to activate my DTV receiver.

Sure wish DTV would add service address change to the website.

Well semi success. After going through all the procedures exactly, I now get the programming on 110 which is about half the subscribed channels. I've turned it all off and will later make sure turning it back on gets the channels and maybe it will bring in 119 also. I did try to manually set 119 on the check switch page but got a "wrong satellite message".

Right, Winegard has no weekend tech support. If you go to channel 100 (I think, but it's somewhere around there) there is an "always on" channel running Dish support videos and other propaganda. If you are seeing good signal strengths on all satellites and you have the SW64 you absolutely should be able to get that channel even if the receiver was not activated. If you do get that channel then you should also see a full guide. If both of those are true but you are not seeing any programming then it is most likely the receiver has lost the required authorization and you need to have Dish resend the activation signal (often call a "hit"). You can do this via Chat or by phone. Only DirecTV customers can get in done from their website.

Yes to all. I went on the Winegard page, unplugged the coax, followed exactly the installation instructions. After check switch test the page showed no satellites as it cleared previous memory. This morning I'm going to unplug the receiver power cord and the coax and again follow the Winegard check switch instructions. If I get nothing again I'll give Dish a call and see if they have an answer. Winegard of no help this weekend.
