Help with JUNK emails on Iphone

You need at least two email address. I use a yahoo for subscriptions and accounts, like RV.net, and a gmail got personal emails only. The yahoo gets a ton of SPAM but Yahoo's filters are good. I've managed to keep the gmail from getting SPAM by keeping close hold on who I give it to.

Yesterday, we went from Verizon Hotspot to an in house Comcast WIFI unit that our HOA pays for now.

Before we hooked that up, I had maybe a few junk mails a week that got by the junk filter. But the past couple days, I'm getting about 20 a day each time I open the browser. I still use Hotmail (I know, I know, but have had it forever and too many contacts have it) so, what happened?

When I put it into the junk folder, then delete and block it, it shows a very odd string of characters unlike regular senders. Any help for this junk?

Go to your hot mail on the web. On top right click the Settings...Options...Filters..and set how/what you want hot mail to put in the junk folder.

I have to check my hot mail junk folder every once in a while. I just checked the 29 was in it and 4 was good mail to be moved to my inbox.

I have had the account for over 18 years and it does a good job of putting junk mail in the junk mail folder and maybe once every 2 weeks or so one may get through it missed to my iPhone.

can you identify them as spam in hotmail?

I've had this hotmail account for ages. I just was getting maybe one junk per day and today I had about 80. What a pain!!

ok. Hotmail.com and outlook.com seem to be particularly plagued with spammers. I finally dropped my outlook.com addresses partially for the same reason. I replaced them with free gmail.com addresses and while I still get spam it's a tiny fraction of what I was experiencing with the other.

That's your problem. It's an old account you've been using forever, no doubt. The longer you've been using an account the more spam you will get. Hotmail is pretty much obsolete. Set up a G-mail account, have your Hotmail forwarded to it for a while, until you can switch everything over.

Don't reply to anything from the Hotmail account, and it will eventually be dormant.

I get tons of spam in my Gmail account, but it does a pretty good job of sorting it out for me. I just ignore it. Gmail dumps everything over 30 days old.
