First "In fact no coax cable can carry High Definition" is 100% false.. It is a LIE.. In fact I can prove it is a lie.. All I have to do is watch a High-Def channel on CABLE TV to prove it. (you can too).
What is the truth.. Direc (And Dish) are not willing to pay for a HIGH DEF modulator for their HD receivers so thy insist you use HDMI
What are your choices.
1:Run HDMI all over the place.. There are splitters that will let you do that.
2: Obtain an HDMI-Coax modulator and install it. They are kind of pricy but with all you have alrady spent... Not that much more.
Coax is used, rg6 from my antenna to the booster to the rear of my tv's. This off the air signal goes into my sets and if the station broadcasts in high def I get a high def picture. Now, if u want high def satelite the best choice is dish. Unless you bring a large directv dish with lots of lnb's it is expensive. We're talilking 1500 for the auto dish. We just bought at Camping World, the winegard pathway X1 for 399.00. This is fully auto. Just hook up the recievers and the satelite dish will find the signals while doing the on screen instructions. It uses rg6 coax to the recievers.then included is the hdmi cable. The hdmi carries the hi def signal from the recievers to the TV set. All u need is RG-6 coax.. Period. The HDMI( high definition multimedia interface) is not overpriced cables, but needed to bring the hi def signal from the recievers to the hi def TV. Hope this helps. So u don't need to rewire the rv with hdmi.
