Newbie to RVing and this forum with a satellite question

Many dishes like the King Dome in motion simply need for you to reconfigure to use a different satellite like Dish's.

In fact, they'll support Dish HD even if they don't support Directv on HD.

TO be honest Im not even sure which set up is on the roof. Ill looking it more and see. I like TechWriters suggestion. Ill look into that.

If you're talking about converting an automatic rooftop dome from DirecTV to DISH, it may be a matter of changing some DIP switches. Maybe. Maybe not. You'll have to get the exact model # to find out.

If you're talking about the automatic rooftop Winegard Travler DirecTV dish, then there's a conversion kit (RP-SK11 and RP-SK21) available from Winegard to change it to the DISH HD Travler version (the SK-1000). The kit is about $300.

The DirectTV non-HD Travler is the SK-3003.

I had Dish for many years and then when they would not offer me a upgrade when I bought a new HD TV I switched to Direct. I find that Direct is much easier to work with and you do get Fox news on Direct. If it was me I would just switch to Direct. Don't think you would be sorry.

I agree with 1L243. Go with DISH and get the Tailgater and leave the system on the roof alone. You'll be much better off. If you park under trees, you can move the Tailgater out from under the trees. Much more versatile than a roof mounted system. You are limited only to the length of coax cable you have.

Get a Dish Tailgater with a 211k Receiver or z if you don't need a coax out for a second tv. It's a portable unit. you can leave the roof mounted unit as Direct maybe the next guy that buys your rig won't like dish? The whole setup for about $449 and you will get HD programming...
