Snow in July on a 211k with DishTV

I connect my Dish receiver...a 211k to my living room TV via an HDMI cable and have a beautiful HD picture. I connect my bedroom TV via the RG6 cable outlet of the 211k receiver and it is snowy...not a clear picture? Why don't I get a clear signal via cable in the bedroom? I know I will not get HD via the cable but still it should be a clear non-snowy picture...right?
  • On most televisions there is an outer knob around the VHU and UFH tuning dials. You can fine tune the channel by turning the outer, fine tuning dial.

Oh. hang on.... that was 40 years ago.

    Nevermind :)
  • check the receiver output channel and see if it has changed,I have had mine change when moving receiver, easy cure is change tv channel,it did drive me crazy first time it happened, that second tv was all but snow. good luck.

IDK. But it only takes a couple of minutes to turn off unit , unplug the HDMI cable turn on unit and see if the cable out is working

IIRC the idea is get you to rent more boxes, one output per box per TV

On the VIP 211k, all of the outputs stay active when HDMI is connected.
  • As mentioned above, have you checked to ensure the TV and the receiver are set to the same channel 3 or channel 4? Additionally, once you hook it up you will need to do a new channel scan on that TV so it can "find" analog channel 3 (4) for proper reception.
  • I have the 211k, and one of them is connected HDMI and Composite, no problems. I have not connected via coax.
The problem sounds like a bad cable (connection) Once I tried 4 different cables to get one that worked, threw away alot of old, bad cables that day.
Remember that the box and the TV have connectors, too. These can go bad.

  • I've never had a 211k. It has a modulator setup for the coax output like my old 722k, right? If so, try a different channel.
  • I took a 50' RG6 cable and ran it directly from the 211k receiver to the TV with the same results snowy picture, so it's not connections, or a staple in the trailer's cable, etc... I am thinking it is a bad receiver coax outlet.
  • It would have something to do with the cabling between the receiver and the TV. If you can, bring that TV into the same room and connect a short coax between the 2. There is a teeny tiny chance the receiver coax output is bad but it's quite rare. This will prove yes or no on that issue. Once you confirm your receiver is not the issue you would start by replaced the F-connectors and barrel connectors if using wall plates. If that still does not fix it then it's most likely that someone screwed a screw or nailed a nail into your coax run inside the walls.
  • Check your cable connections, making sure the ends are firmly attached to the coax. If you have a TV outlet in the bedroom that requires a short jumper to the TV, unscrew the outlet plate and make sure the cable behind it is firmly attached as well.
