I wouldn't be traveling with it on the slide lip. I just thought that I could keep it off the ground from maint. people with their mowers. I guess one of my other fears is theft as a reason to put on a high spot when parked.

We have had ours overa year. Never shut it off before unhooking. I even dropped it off the dining slide, tried to catch it but only slowed it some before it dropped and bounced off the concrete slab. It still works without a problem. The dish does seem to be pretty robust, proven by my clumsiness. I wouldnt hesitate buying one.

Had mine for over 2 years,Never in one spot for to long,No issues.Like it a lot.

Good re-enforcement. I have heard all the issues with respect to getting the thing fixed. I called Dish and I called King Controls last year but got a "HUH, I'll have to check into that". The person assured me that they would stand behind the warranty if I encountered such a problem such as this. I am probably going to buy one this year. One other thing I should have asked is, Has anyone bought the window or ledge mount attachments? I thought I might be able to clamp it to the lip on my silde to keep it off the ground so park maintenance doesn't hit it with the mowers. I considered the bumper but want more versatility to move if trees are in the way. Thanks for the replies.

I have the vu cube 1000 which is basically the same thing and I have had mine for over 5 years now and never had or heard of that. I just unhook mine when ready to leave and have never shut off the reciever before unhooking. There is nothing in the instructions reguarding that issue either.

It sure makes locating a satellite very easy.

Used ours for two years, without issues.

I've owned the Tailgater for well over a year now. I treat it roughly, I never bother to disconnect it before moving it (never heard of an issue with this), I leave it sitting out in 100 degree heat and cold nights in the teens. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE TAILGATER.

IMO the $350 is well spent if you value simplicity and ease of use, as I do. I just don't have the patience to aim the $100 open sat dish, so it's the Tailgater or nothing for me. Reception is good, durability is good, and it is remarkably easy to use.

I notice the OP got a response within 9 minutes of posting about a "Tailgater", and that the response was obliquely negative. This same Forum member has posted negative comments on most "Tailgater" threads that I've read, and yet doesn't own a Tailgater, or ANY dome antenna, according to their own posts.

No evedence even that they own a television, but they sure seem to harbor a grudge against the Tailgater.

I have had one for two years and haven't had any issues with it. depending on where you camp sometimes it is a bit hard to get a clear view of the southern sky. But if you reposition it all you do is a check satellite and it searches and locks in the 3 satellites ok.
