Verizon Jetpack 4620 problem

Problem:Jetpack does not want to go/stay online! It's been going on a week now. The Verizon store said it was my laptop, but a local computer repair facility says they only tweaked the BIOS, and that's all they could find wrong. I've been calling Verizon Tech Support quite a bit, and today they got it going.....for awhile. One minute I'm online, go get a cup of coffee, come back....offline. The Jetpack is 'talking' to my computer but not to the Internet. Yes, I re-boot the JP for 30 sec. (that's why I'm on tonite). Verizon tech had me do the reset button procedure this a.m. and that was successful....for awhile. A new Sim card was installed 5 days ago so that isn't it. When it's on, I get over 12 Mbps since I'm only 1.9 miles from the tower. Sometimes, I get only 3G, sometimes I get alternating 3G and 4G colored lights, sometimes the green lights blink just great, but I have a little '!' down in my wifi icon in the taskbar which means 'offline'. Have you had any of these problems? Thanks. jim

Everytime I have a weird problem like this I would take my computer and JETPACK together to VERIZON and let the VERIZON technician be able to see the problem first hand. They will be able to swap in another JETPACK if needed into the situation and have better luck finding what is causing the problem.

I have taken things like this back to their shop on a couple of occasions and they were able to identify exactly what the problem was and got me fixed up.
  • Mine seems to need its battery removed every now and then for it to work right.
  • I agree with RoyB. Take your laptop and the JetPack to your local Verizon store, explain the situation, and they should simply swap out your defective JetPack for a new one. You should be able to move your old sim to a new JetPack and see if that gives you more reliable operation right in the Verizon store also.
  • Remove the battery for a minute and put in back in. Worked for me. More info:

  • I've taken the laptop/Jetpack to Verizon at least 5 times with different employees taking their turn to check it out. Finally the manager, after having a crack at it, said that my laptop was the problem. The battery/Sim card has been in and out more times than I can count. Yesterday's 'reset button' technique was the first, and, as I said, it worked.....for awhile. This a.m. the Jetpack is working....but in 3G. I still think about the only thing that hasn't been tried is another Jetpack.

If the jetpack talks to the computer, If you can access the jetpack menus from the computer, then it is ****NOT**** the comptuer's problem

It may be the Jet-Pack, or it may be the Tower, or it might be signal strength or 3rd party interference (IE: MSW inverter power, not necessarily yours) knocking it off line, but it is NOT the computer.

I have a problem here from time to time, Finally figured it out, where the computer suddenly shows Limited on the internet connection and it will not talk to the outside world beyond the router... The old Win-eXtra Painful never did this, solution is to disconnect and reconnect from router.

OH,, A note follows. Turns out the problem is NOT with the computer, nor the router. it's with the Modem-Park router link (Yes, I have a Wi-Fi "Modem", looks like a cable modem to my router but is in fact a Wi-Fi Adapter).

When the park router flakes and auto-resets I loose internet, for a second, this trips the "Limited" flag and it remains till I reset.

IF you have newer windows (I have 8.1) this may be what is happening to you.. again it is NOT the computer that is the problem.. But in this case an XP machine (or older) would likely just pause a bit where as an 8.x machine stalls out and needs to have the connection re-started.

Good old Microsoft,, It is not broken, so let's fix it.
