Weather Watch instrument...how to operate??

We just bought a ten year old coach and it has a small panel on it that is called a "WEATHER WATCH". The brand name appears to be Stellar, and it has the intitials MNNK under the brand name. I am not sure if it's digital or analog. It is next to the passenger seat. It has a panel in the middle with numbers, and two dials on either side. On the left side the dial can be switched to the following:
BAR
ALT
OFF
T-1
T-2

On the right side the dial rotates and it says:
SET
Depending on where the left dial is set the numbers can change.

I have searched the web for it and found nothing. I THINK you put in the county code for where you are and you get NOAA alerts. It appears to still be working and I'd like to use it. Is anyone familiar with this, or know where I can get a manual for it?

Thanks, Susie

There have been many personal "Weather Stations" on the market.

Let me see if I can find one like it...

OH, I have the apps on my phone too, still my six O'Clock alarm this morning was the Midland Alert Radio in my radio room going off.. Just so you know, the apps never made a peep.. Tornado about 10-20 miles distant. Same county I'm in.
Found two web pages relating to the company. These only give name and address, the 2nd one says "No longer in good standing and no longer registered" (I assume that means with the page host but it may mean the company is toast).

    First link Second link

Here are a couple of PDF's that are for different, competiting devices, they may help PDF #1 PDF #2

My guess, Set the clock, set the altitude and it will attempt to "predict" fair or rain/snow based on barometic pressure.

you likely have a sensor or two (remote battery operated) somewhere outside the RV that send outside temps to the device as well.. Though you may have only one and the other built in.

Three sets of instructions on these sensors
Set one: REplace batteries in REMOTE then replace batteries on Display
Set two: Replace batteries on Display then replace batteries on Remote.
Set three: Replace batteries in remote press button on display (rare).

I still recommend a good Weather/all hazards Alert radio.
  • If you turn it to ALT it should show a number very close to your RV's current elevation above sea level. If you turn it to BAR it should show a number between 28 and 31 (inches Hg). This link will give you information on what those BAR readings mean.
    Barometer readings
I have seen these exact systems in some older RVs so I am pretty sure that what you have is the same as the units I have seen in the past. I believe it was the Bluebird RVs that had these installed in many of them so you might be able to search out additional information from a BB forum.
  • Perhaps you are right. I just thought that since the panel said "Weather WATCH" (caps my own!) it would tell you about upcoming weather. And I wondered why anyone would need to know barometer and altitude if they had a gps or a computer, but obviously they didn't have those miracle machines 10 years ago! I still am curious as to HOW to use it. And I am still not sure why there is a t1 and a t2. But thanks for all your help. Susie
  • I believe you are trying to find someone who can tell you how to make your system do something it is not capable of. I don't believe it is any kind of a weather "alert" system but rather something that will allow you to view the changing conditions outside your coach. If you want forecast or weather alert information you would need to buy a system designed to do so.
If you have more information about your system that you have yet to tell us about, please do so. However, based upon the information you have provided I don't believe it can do anything more that tell you your current elevation above sea level, show the Barometric pressure (30.05, etc., possibly with an arrow pointing up or down showing raising or falling) and access 2 remote sensors (likely temp sensors as mentioned).
It is also capable of being turned OFF.
  • So, you are telling me to buy a weather radio? I just want to know how to work this one. I have apps on my phone with weather stuff. In fact, here in Memphis, we JUST went through a tornado warning. Sirens and all. and I am here to tell you it was SCARY. I am from Tornado Alley, Oklahoma, but I have never been in an RV in a tornado AND my husband had just left for a meeting an hour away, with the car.

I just wanted this gadget to work. And I think it's like one we had in Oklahoma that would alert you if something was around, like a tornado or a gorilla. ;) Thanks, Susie

That is close to what I'm am thinking too
Bar is not only the abbreaviation for "Barometric" on many indicators but the pressure is often measured in "millibars" (BAR).

ALT is Altitude (Get that from your GPS and dial it in) since it will affect the meaning of the BAR (Barometric pressure is naturally higher on the floor of Death Valley than the peak of Mt. Everest)

    T-1 and T-2,, Temperature sensors.

This is a simple monitoring of current conditions with perhaps a bit of "Prediction" based on high or low barametric pressure.

What you want, Is a radio receiver, It will say "Weather/All hazards with SAME technology on it)

You can get one from your favorite store.. Dang near any store, Radio Shack, Wal*mart, CVS, Rite-Aid, Wallgreens, Flying-J/Pilot, T/A, Loves, The local hardware store, Lowes, Home Depot. The local Fire Department may have em. Television stations give them away from time to time.

I mean you find those puppies for sale EVERYWHERE.

    True story:
Factory owner bought one.. It sounded the alarm TORNADO WARNING, so they shut down production and retired to the storm shelter in the basement.. When the All Clear was sounded they returned to the surface and found nothing..

    NO plant
    No machines
No cars in the parking lot (Ok so there was one big block chevy V=8 Engine but the car it came out of.... GONE) NOTHING.

Total plant employees dead or injured.. ZERO. they heeded the warning and took proper shelter.

I saw a movie of that tornado.. Yup, the plant's owner was not in the plant at the time, He was out in his pickup... FILMING.
  • It sounds like it has setting to give you a barometric (BAR) reading and the current altitude (ALT). I suspect the T-1 and T-2 are/were for some kind of remote sensors.
    Good luck with that.
