Winegard SK1000 Satellite dish kapot afer 2.5 years

Has a professional attempted to diagnose the problem? Could be something easier to repair.

Have you in face determined the positioning motor is toast? Because they are nothing more than off the shelf stepper motors. Would not suprise me one bit if you could find them off the shelf somewhere for between one andmtwo hundred dollars.

One of the reasons I have a RF Mogul is that it doesn't have to be returned to the factory for repairs. Mainly just motors with the dish and the electronics is inside.

Back in October on way home from 10 days in Pigon Forge we were passed by a large MH. The black dome satellite dish Was quickly tearing itself off his roof. I flashed my lights several times to no avail. I couldn't catch him as he was moving on pretty fast. I was concerned it would hit another vehicle when it did finally come off. Can't understand why he didn't hear it. Had to have been making a terrible racket.

My SK1000 is obsolete and becoming more so. I wouldn't invest a dime in it. It doesn't fully support all the satellites or the newest Hopper.

That would be quite a trick for the SK1000 to be able to acquire both DISH's Western and Eastern Arc sats. Even DISH's fixed tripod dishes can't do this w/o setting up two, separate dishes.

Also, a standard SK1000 can be modified to support the new Hopper 3s.

EA would require an LNB assembly replacement and new aiming code. The first is easy. The second probably would be too but Winegard won't do it.

I'd heard there was a DIY DPH mod around but Winegard denied it. Thanks.

I'm going to find out about that. A windstorm here in AZ last week took out one of my AC covers and collapsed the sat dish. Initial inspection determine that the dish is flat on the roof opposite the stowed position and will move without resistance up and down. Hopefully is something simple, I'll know more when I take it apart this week.

Winegard told me there is no demand for EA. That is because they are not in the trees on the east coast.
