Hi everyone. New here. I'm ready to sell my house & try the full time traveler thing for a few years while I'm young. Reading through the forums has been helpful, and I'm looking for advice.I drive a 4 door jeep wrangler. What pull behinds are an option for me? My tow limit is 2000lbs... Seems like my biggest hurdle will be deciding with/without bathroom... both make me nervous.I have a medium size pit bull/boxer mix. He is well behaved and likes to travel. Any advice on traveling with pets? (Especially breeds that seem to frighten people)I want to do workamping, but am willing to just go & see what opportunities the road brings to me... not really a question, but would love to hear about your experiences. Ease my fears - I do not have a travel companion. Just me, my dog, and my fishing pole... what do you do when things go wrong & you're on your own?Give me words - My family/friends think I'm crazy. I've never really been a traveler, but this past year, I've seen a fair portion of the USA and have been bit by the bug. I want to get out & see as much as I can... but want to take it slow... get on the road & just keep going for a few years.

If your tow limit is only 2000lbs your with or without bathroom question can be easily answered. You won't find anything with a proper bathroom under 2k.That's a pretty low tow rating for anything other than the smallest of pop up trailers which is not ideal for full timing in. You may want to consider upgrading your tow vehicle first.

Or you can keep the jeep, and get an rv to fulltime in and pull the jeep behind it

Many places (because of insurance regulations) will not allow pit bulls or large breeds in general. Be honest when checking in or calling for reservations. If you forget the bathroom/holding tanks and want something you don't have to "popup" to walk into, you can stay under 2,000 pounds with a 13-15 foot molded fiberglass trailer. But that means you'll also have to get rid of practically everything else you own, too. And none in that size/weight range are whatchamightcall "four-season", so you'd have to go south in the winter. We have one and love it but it's strictly recreational. I can't imagine living fulltime in it, especially with a dog bigger than my twenty pounder!

Again, I appreciate all of your responses about the size/weight. Thank you so much for taking the time. I guess the Jeep is out. I was hoping it could pull something super tiny like a scamp, but I'm starting to believe that isn't going to happen and I need to upgrade my vehicle. Hmmmm. Choices, choices.

x2. this is an example of how even the smallest of trailers will exceed the OP's 2000lbs. capacity. and that's with only a 150lb. driver in the Jeep.

bottom line is that, outside of popups, teardrops or extremely tiny trailers, the OP will not find much to choose from.

I agree, it's just the smallest thing I found with a bathroom. That tip out is a option and I bet it would push it over by itself.

This is a 11 ft hi bred that weighs 1800 lb and has a bath.

Neat little trailer but that's a dry weight. It will exceed 2k with options before putting anything in it.

It may serve you better to get a porta potty of some sort rather than have it built in. That would save a lot of weight and space.

Don't underestimate the stuff you'll need to take with you. You may plan on following the weather but mother nature tends to surprise us. I'm in central Florida and temps have already been in the 30s. Sure glad I had my cold weather clothes with me.

LOL. I know I have to weigh everything going in. I was just saying they were neat.

I know it sort of sounds like it, but I didn't wake up this morning and decide this. I've been thinking about it for a while, and have been purging my house of "stuff" this year. I'm still a ways away from starting this adventure, but I'm at the point where I want to start talking to people about it/getting advice.

I'm a solo traveler and I have a Jeep Wrangler. I tow it behind my class 'C' MH. BTW, its a lot easier to pull my Jeep up to the 'C' to hook up than it is to back a tow vehicle up to a TT solo. And if you can't find a pull thru site, you're going to have to back the TT into a space. As soon as you turn the wheel, you'll lose sight of one of the rear corners of the TT. Then you're parking by sound instead of sight, and it isn't a pleasant sound (CRUNCH).
The only drawback that I've found to solo traveling so far, is that you really need to stop the RV somewhere before getting up to use the bathroom. :)
On edit: You do NOT have a pit bull. You have a Staffordshire Terrier. I have a friend that has three. My only fear is that they'll lick me to death. Staffies aren't born mean, they're made that way.
