Yes, you can still negotiate. It's exactly what I did. What is nice about ordering a new unit- you can hit 3 or 4 different dealers and compare exact apples to apples pricing between them.

Heard back from the salesman today and he had come down quite a bit. Kind of miffed he tried to weasel out of his first quote saying he was just quoting the website, when I had the printout with the website quote and his very slightly lower initial quote I thanked him for getting back to me but it was still too high. Quoted him the internet price I had found and he came back close but not matching. Still a way from the RV Direct price.

Finally got a chance this afternoon to visit the other Jayco dealer in the 200 mile radius.
This one has been in business for 40+ years and I got better vibe from him. He was real honest about a past repair issue on the slide with this model that his shop had. They had to finally send it back to Indiana for repair. Suggested a few others to look at but admitted this might be my best match for my needs within the Jayco lineup. I'm going to see what he can do on price.

Keep in mind if the salesperson lips were moving, there is a high likelihood facts were not flowing from said lips.

I bought my Octane from these folks. They seem as good as any other dealer (although they are called "Crestview" I guess they are not affiliated with the Crestview dealers near Austin...go figure) Ask for Bill or Jerry and tell them I sent you LOL...(they have probably long forgot me, as it has been over two years since I got mine).

How do think the dealers get rv's for the lot. They order them from the factory. The difference is when a customer orders one the dealer pays the manufacturer with the customer's money rather than the dealer's money. This saves them money. They will try to tell you doesn't though and will not willingly pass the savings on to the customer.

Late last year my trailer was totaled by my insurance. After going to shows and lots I decided on a model. Went to the nearest dealer that carries that brand and they had already sold the model I wanted and were not going to get another until spring. Asked for a quote on a factory order. They quoted msrp and were not interested in negotiating. Ended up get it from a wholesaler for about 38% off msrp including delivery fee from San Diego to Tacoma, WA.

They should be pretty similar in price. Maybe the dealer has a bit more incentive to move something that's been sitting on his lot a while. MSRP means even less for RVs than it does for autos. Expect a deep discount off MSRP.

Get the deal you want or walk away. The salesman will chase you to your car.

I got a quote on my new Jayco from RVdirect that was 64% of MSRP. I took that quote to a local dealer and bought for $300 more than my RVDirect price quote. I factory ordered with the EXACT options and colors that I wanted.

Your local dealer is looking for an additional $5500 in profit. I wouldn't have stuck around long enough for him to insult my intelligence with a price quote like that. That is asinine for a hybrid trailer. I paid just over $21K for my 29QBS.

That was my thoughts too, but since this is my first RV purchase I figured I would let him talk and then ask on the forum and see how high it was being piled up. If I can get it at a reasonable price I'd rather buy it though a semi-local dealer, even if it isn't the absolute lowest price, but I'll buy out of the area if necessary.

With all due respect that salesman is full of we all know what!! IMHO $25,500 is ridiculous. It doesn't cost any more to special order than one already setting on a lot somewhere. Also the $19,999 that you have already saw advertised somewhere is at the top end of what you should be able to buy that model for.
