water pump isnt working

ok I'll prime it when I get home although they say to do it on the water output.Also the leak would be in the short pieces of hosing correct thus not making it a pressurized system?Do some pumps loose the pressurization over time and this was s a necessary step?

The pump is electric so obviously you don't want to stick IT in a tub of water. :R What I said was - "Disconnect the pump intake line and stick it in a jug of water ... if it primes the pump is fine and you have a leak somewhere in the system."

Once the city water inlet is sealed with a threaded plug it's then irrelevant to pump operation. Check to see if the pump will achieve prime as I suggested earlier ... if it doesn't then there's a leak somewhere other than the city water inlet since it's been sealed.

There you go, city water inlet check valve has failed. It's probably the rubber O ring inside and although it can often be reseated most would just replace the entire city water inlet and be done with it. In the meantime, cap the city water inlet with a threaded male plug like this.

Do you have water In the fresh water tank? How much? Is the valve that is used for siphoning antifreeze in the correct position?
