- Happy_ProspectoExplorerPaper plates and plastic silverware works for a lot of people. Down here at Quartzsite, most everyone boondocking uses it.
- lgarciaExplorerI went back to the Coleman style camping enamel dish sets - usually sold in sets of 4 each of plates, bowls, mugs. They are lightweight and clean easily. I also keep two each of microwavable plates and bowls for food prep.

If your talking about Corelle dishes, and contacted the Corning, they would have replaced the broken piece free of charge. That's what we did. :)
:( I started off with a brand-new set and broke my first plate less then a week later.
Well I would not have wanted another piece of that corelle I would have like to make Corning come out and try and get all the shards of glass up off the floor and ultimately from the paws of my dogs because it's almost impossible to get them all off the floor!! :B
I haven't tried it, however I have read that a slice of bread will pick up all of the tiny shards of glass... - CA_POPPYExplorer

I love my Corelle and in 15 years of using it I have broken exactly 1 bowl.
I wouldn't be without it.
I've had my set since 1989 and rarely broken a piece. When I have, it wasn't bad picking up the shards with a damp paper towel. One neat thing I learned, if you need to replace a piece of your set, or just want extra cups, bowls, whatever, eBay probably has them. It is so great to have extra cereal bowls, etc. - LakejumperExplorerI had to get on this thread and let Mexicowanderer know that you can buy Revereware on eBay and Amazon.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerWant some MEXICAN paper plates. For 20 bucks I'll send you at cost 100 paper plates. A stack 4" tall. Mexican paper plates mimic a flour tortilla for strength. When the store is thousands of miles round trip things get tougher.
Anyone know if LEXAN can be microwaved? - Tom_DianeExplorer

We had Corelle ware when we got married 42 years ago.
Nordic Ware is Microwave Safe and unbreakable...but is thin and stains
Melamine is not microwave safe.
There's nothing wrong with good quality paper plates...
Wife wants some for the camper. I m for what ever she wants but
I agree with Kathy, I like Paper and she doesn't but they are light, microwavable.
With paper, the dog does the dishes and then toss them! Besides, paper plates make good fire starter at the fire pit! - rwj146ExplorerI'm with you on the Corelle. What I use is a good quality paper plate with a wicker plate holder. The holders are cheap and easy to clean and won't break. And they are light, so they won't add much to the weight of your meal.
Travel safe.. Bob J. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi Mex,
I won't do aluminum either. Stainless steel I would do.

Pianotuna,
I am very leery of aluminum
It's the only metal not found in nature. Aluminum does not exist. It only comes into being after Bauxite is electrolysized. Same for plastic. I just don't trust putting hot food or liquid in contact with it on a continuous basis.
Look on the bottom of any pastic utensil including foam drinking cups. You will find an embossed triangle with a number in it - can you explain it's significance? It's a warning of some kind. Carcinogenic danger. I did price stainless steel tins and came up with @ $40.00 each for a plateç - pasusanExplorer
