Awning problem

I have a Dometic A & E Weather Pro power awning. I noticed that the rear arm does not snap completely into place when closed is also retracts slower than normal. After looking more also noticed the fabric is sticking out about an inch past the weather shield ( on the front of unit oposite the arm that is hanging up) and is rolling up on the outer end of the tube. When it is in the open position the weather shield is 1 inch past the fabric on the rear of the camper. It looks as if the fabric has all slid towards the front ( fabric is not centered under the weather shield), And this is causing binding when rolling up as well. How does one go about sliding the fabric (on top where it fastens to the rv) back to center with weather shield. I called a certified dealer for Dometic only one in N.D. Shows up on web sight. Service desk told me to bring it in and have a tech look at it wouldn't tell me squat. I am 120 miles one way from them and they are booked up till 3rd week of Oct. I will more than likely have it put away in a building 60 miles from me for the winter. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I have pics but don't know how to post them

Now I remember our cover creeped to the front and we had our rv guy here loosen it up and using a hammer it went back with some noise as I remember.

I think my cover is in the right place but my fabric has moved forward because of how it is wound up on the outer edge of the tube onto the end cap.

This sounds like a recent issue we had with our awning on our last trip. DH got on the roof and was able to slide the awning back into position and the awning rolled back up OK. When we got home we opened the awning back up and he had to slide the fabirc back again so he could put a set screw in the awning t ohold it in place.
We actually had to do this on our last camper as well.

    Thank you
Was it that a set screw fell out or he did that as a precaution.

  • Any good RV repair place should be able to fix it if it is just mis-aligned. I there is a real problem, then you can take it up with Dometic about replacement or repair.

I have seen some roll up crooked so we brought it back down and with a slight pressure pushing on the arm to get it back up straight. Easy to push too much. Is this kinda what you are seeing??

Hi Larry when I refer to weather guard that is the shell the awning tube rolls into
I think the big problem is that it has slid beyond the wether guard cover towards the front of 5ver, and iis wrapping around the end cap of the tube when rolling up causing it to bind and not allowing arms to snap into place on back.
