Camping alone

Try a trip where the significant other joins you 2-3 weeks into the trip and returns accordingly. Best of both worlds. I've visited friends by myself and then joined by significant other. Can fly or drive in.

I used to go by myself alot back in the day but with the current state of the union I don't think I would like it as much as back then...

Sorry to say too many crazies to deal with now...

Of course I am talking abut camping way back off the beaten path somewhere - not at a regular campground with lots of people around...

Don't see any problem, have done it several times for a month at the time. The wife doesn't like some of my outdoor activities (mountain biking, dirt biking, road riding etc ect); So almost every year, I take off and do my own thing while the wife "holds the fort"; She in turn takes off for a month as well to stay with her parents (they live in Europe) - again she does her thing' No big deal.

I've leaving next week to tour Virginia and get some biking in before the winter sets in.

It's not much different than military members being deployed and leaving the spouse home with the kids/grandkids.

It seems to work for them.
Maybe it works for people camping alone.

I stayed in my fifth wheel for 4 months by myself while on active duty. The wife moved to our new house while I waited to PCS/transfer. It wasn't too bad. Couple next to me were very nice. After 4 months, I was ready to get to my new house and get checked into my new command.

In 30 years of marriage, my wife and I were apart only once for about 3 months. Even when I was in the military, during my military "career" we for fortunate to never be apart, except those nights I had to pull CQ duty. and except for those 3 months (we were moving, changing jobs, and selling property in the relocation process, we had to do this), we've been together under the same roof every night. I wouldn't even begin to imagine camping alone or leaving her behind. The reason I got out of the military was because I was in-line to transfer to Germany if I re-enlisted again. I heard too many stories about all the time required in the "field" and families were left behind. The counts were sometimes as much as 9 months out of the year apart from spouses. I couldn't do that to my new "bride". I opted to get out of the military. She was more important and still is. She comes first in my life! (and I know I come first in her life!).

it really has nothing to do with how we feel...what does your wife and you feel about it?????

it can be fine for some and terrible for others....talk to your spouse.

After almost 25 years of marriage I think we have been apart almost as much as we've been together. Unlike Dutchman Sport above, I did 11 deployments while I was in the Navy to include numerous in and outs while being on ships for 15 years of a 26 Navy career. Since I've retired my wife now takes off probably three to four times a year to spend time with her parents and the kids/grandkids.

As I type this she is in south Texas with her folks hating the weather.

She's never had a problem with me taking off for a couple of weeks every fall to go hunting as long as I brought an elk home. Same goes with fishing or even camping with other family members.

So I'll vote its not a big deal but it really depends on your marriage.

I ''might'' but situation never arose. hubby wants to go with me :)
We really enjoy each other's company so I think I would really miss being with my hubby for that long.

Only time we go separate ways is when he goes on hunting trips, then it is guy time, I have no interest, we get a small break from each other and all is fine!

It has to come down to if you really just want to travel a bit and are comfortable being without your DW. just very personal question and only you 2 can decide it :)
