Damaged Awning Question

Last night I caught the awning on a tree limb while maneuvering in my driveway and it got pulled open and damaged. Most of the damage is on extension arms and frame. I took it off myself because there was no way to secure it back on to trailer.
Anyone have any experience with insurance claims for this type of incident? I use GEICO. Will that lizard or ghekko or whatever he is help me out?
  • You should have coverage minus your deductible and possibly some depreciation for the awning fabric itself. Check on a price to see if it's close to your deductible. If it is, pay yourself rather than file your claim. If it's a good bit over, which it might be, then file a claim.
  • Several years ago I side swiped a tree in a narrow park. Tore the awning, and roof up pretty bad. SF paid for everything minus my deductable.
  • I wiped out my entire awning a couple of years ago and Progressive paid for everything.
