Fabric paint...anyone ever use it??

There were a lot of PINK things in my classC...window curtains, valances, upholstery, privacy curtain...got rid of all them, but the back of the cab seats are pink too! Would like to make them brown and wondering if anyone has used fabric paint??...here is one I am looking at.

  • Is this a Ronco product (LOL)...

My thought is that even though it says it is permanent it would be a little skeptical.... especially in summer.

Why not get a decent set of seat cover made for that specific truck?

Good seat covers that will fit snug and look nice are big $$$$ ... I tried a cheaper set and ended up returning them. The seats are still in good shape, just that ugly pink on the back!!!
  • I dont' think fabric paint would adhere well on that material and in the hot interior of a closed vehicle.

BUT it's cheap, and if you want to try it, not much to lose. Just be prepared to get the seats re-covered if it doesn't work well.
  • I have used fabric spray made by Rustoleum on the floor mats of my 2000 Malibu Chevy. Some one one before me had used a cleaner on them that just about took the color out. It was a nice clean car so I decided to correct the floor carpet. I used the fabric spray and it worked perfectly. The floor covering was light gray and it took it right back to almost new. I towed the Malibu for over 5 years and the fabric spray held up very well. The car is still on the road daily, my grand son drives it to college and to his job.
  • Never used it, but I have to share a story from some years ago. Joe Walsh, the great guitar player from the Eagles, was known for rowdy behavior, but this guy topped him one Weekend in Chicago. Comedian John Belushi and Walsh were out on the town, and decided to go to an expensive dinner club downtown. The Maitre D' told them at the door, that the rules were strict and no one was allowed in jeans, so Belushi went out and got some black fabric paint and sprayed their blue jeans Black!
They went back later, and everything went fine, until dinner was over. When they stood up, the expensive chair fabric was entirely blackened and ruined by the fabric paint.
The dinner tab included the cost of the two chairs.... $2200.00!
  • I'd also go with the seat covers. We have used them since our truck was new and the original seats are still like new. The seat covers that are on it now came from SeatCoversUnlimited.com. Very happy and very comfy!
  • My wife and kids have made t-shirts with fabric paint many times. Not the type you are using though. They use stuff that comes in a small bottle and they basically write on the shirt.

We have shirts that are well over 5 years old that still look good. The paint is permanent. They get washed and dried like all other clothing without issue.

I love that story. $2200 was nothing to those guys.

Sorry to the OP for interrupting the thread.
