We need to remember that we have all paid for things in our insurance policies that we don't/didn't use. Then you have others with chronic medical issues that use a large portion of their insurance coverage for surgery, blood tests, MRI, CAT scans, medications, etc. There are single men that don't have children. Their policy doesn't separate out maternity...it is still part of the policy.
20 plus years ago, BCBS doubled the price of their policy. They cancelled some and no one blamed the President. This is the way insurance has been for years.
With our policy purchased on the NYS exchange, we still have co-pays, we still have prescription co-pays and yes, a deductible. This is no different than when we had a major medical plan...it covered some things better than others. If you haven't looked at the policies offered in your state or thru the ACA then please don't say what is available. There are many of us that did our homework, looked at the options and chose the one that best met our needs. I believe healthcare is not a privilege but should be available to everyone.
